Privacy Policy

One Habit is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your personal goals and habits are yours alone. This policy explains how we handle data — both on this website and in the app.

Website Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are read, how people navigate, and which features get attention. No ads, no cross-site tracking.

Analytics only activate if you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you decline, no data is sent to Google. Your choice is saved in your browser (localStorage) and respected on every visit. You can change your decision at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage.

If analytics are active, data is processed by Google LLC (USA) under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Google's data handling is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

App — Data Storage

Your personal habit data, photos, and preferences are stored locally on your device. If you use the Challenges feature, certain data (challenge name, progress, and optionally a challenge photo) is stored on Google Firebase servers to enable sharing with other participants. If you use the AI Companion feature, your conversations are temporarily stored on Google Firebase servers to provide continuity across sessions.

App — Photos

Photos you choose as trigger images for your personal habit are stored only on your device. If you optionally add a photo when creating a Challenge, that photo is uploaded to Firebase Storage (Google Cloud, USA) and is visible to all participants of that challenge. We do not have access to your photo library beyond what you explicitly select.

App — Notifications

Push notifications are sent locally by your device to remind you of your habit. No notification data is transmitted to external services.

App — Analytics

The app itself does not use any analytics or tracking services. Your in-app usage is completely private.

Research (Optional)

In the future, we may offer users the option to voluntarily contribute anonymized data to scientific research on behavior change and habit psychology. This could include anonymized habit patterns (e.g. habit type, streak length, completion rates, drop-off points) as well as anonymized themes from AI Companion conversations — never personal content, names, photos, or identifiable information.

This will always be strictly opt-in, clearly explained before activation, and revocable at any time in the app settings. No such data sharing is currently active.

Third Parties

For the Challenges feature, we use Google Firebase (Firestore & Storage). Data processed by Firebase is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Firebase servers may be located in the United States. We do not share your data with any other third parties.

Challenges — User Content

The Challenges feature allows you to create shared challenges with other people via a private invite code. You are solely responsible for the content (including photos) you upload as part of a challenge. Please do not upload content that is illegal, offensive, or infringes third-party rights. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these guidelines.

AI Companion

The AI Companion is an optional premium feature. When you use it, the following data is processed:

All session data in Firestore is secured so that only your account can access it. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us. Anthropic's data handling is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

In-App Purchases

One Habit offers optional premium features via in-app purchases, processed through Google Play. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Google and subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store your payment details. Purchase status is verified via RevenueCat, subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your local data at any time through the Settings menu inside the app. To request deletion of data stored on Firebase (challenges, challenge photos, AI Companion conversations and summaries), please contact us at support@onehabit.at.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your personal data, as well as the right to object to or restrict processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@onehabit.at. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Contact

If you have any questions about this privacy policy, please reach out at support@onehabit.at.

Your personal habit data stays on your device. Challenge and AI Companion data is stored securely on Google Firebase — accessible only to you. Website analytics only run with your explicit consent.
